Films/TV progs with breastfeeding mums?

Bit of a weird curiosity, but I can't actually think of a single fictional character who is seen/known to be breastfeeding. Is it me or can you think of any?

Can't remember what film it was- and it was obviously a bit sad but I remember one where rachel weisz fed another baby while she was in hospital after losing her own. I think the baby she was feeding was orphaned or something...I hope someone else can remember the name!

iamaLeafontheWind · 06/02/2009 23:32

The Constant Gardener was the film.

Family Guy has lots of BF, although Stewie is a very scary child

Anglepoise · 06/02/2009 23:32

Will be The Constant Gardener from this list - lots aren't very positive though (and I can't remember the few I've seen!).

hellymelly · 06/02/2009 23:47

Only two I've ever seen where the constant gardener as mentioned and a horrible horrible South American film the name of which I have blocked out but I think it was one word and beagn with P (!)Woman was breastfeeding a homeless boy of indeterminate age, possibly between 8 and 12.

Not entirely fictional & about not bfing - in the Tudors Queene Anne was about to feed Elizabeth but Henry came in & stopped her, saying that Queens do not feed their own babies.
In Emmerdale when they had the baby swap storyline, the character who had to give her baby away said she was still breastfeeding him at 9mths.

Astrophe · 07/02/2009 04:27

A book, not a movie, but mother of Katie Morag is seen with boob out (wrong boob, bizarely) feeding baby Flora.

I can't think of any other kids books that show BF, even those about "Mummys having a baby" tend to be FF, IME.

SuperBunny · 07/02/2009 04:28

The Hand that Rocks the Cradle although that is wierd and I think the woman was nursing someone else's baby in order to get it to bond with her instead of the mother. Or something.

So, not really a positive portrayal of BF.

There were a few episodes in "Cutting it" which had breastfeeding in it. Just very matter-of-fact, sitting in a cafe drinking coffee sort of breastfeeding, not "look-at-me-I'm-breastfeeding-because-it's-important-to-the-plot-later" sort of breastfeeding (if you see what I mean).

childrens book- the baby catologue has breast and bottlefed babies and is lovely

we had another 'this is the new baby' type book from the library which had a bf baby paralleled with the big bro eating salad and 'grown up' food

big love had bf mum

wrong trun/the hills have eyes, some horrible scary film where a inbred psycho comunity tries to murder a whole family has a bfing mum

and i know is not fictional but in an episode of 'grand designs' there was a mum bfing in her beautiful newborn in her new house while explaining how the budget had stretched etc to presenter, but was very dicreet you may not have noticed if you hadnt been eyeing up the nursing top like me!

Didn't the recent Tess of the D'Urbervilles have Tess BF her son? Depressing story altogether so didn't watch much of it.

belgo · 07/02/2009 11:24

yes Tess was shown bfing.

Devendra · 07/02/2009 14:29

There was a couple of episodes of Tenko with a woman breasfeeding.

CherryChoc · 07/02/2009 14:33

There was one linked to recently on another site, a children's programme from America in the 1970s.

It's a bit creepy at the start but the clips are lovely.

In Italy there is an ad by Pampers with a breastfeeding baby (around 6 months I'd say)
