Diet whilst breastfeeding

Have been merrily eating and drinking all I want using the excuse that I was pregnant and then was breastfeeding. Stood on the scales the other day and was horrified! Now really trying to lose a stone or so.

I was trying to cut out bread and just eat Ryvita, and have just vegetables for tea. However I end up absolutely ravenous. Am exclusively bf 13 week old. How do I lose weight while bf-ing any tips apart from avoiding the biscuit tin?

Am doing exercise videos at home but finding it really hard as dd sometimes feeds for hours.

Slimming World has a programme for breastfeeding mums.

I think having a balanced healthy diet when BFing is the best way to eat. Not actively try to lose weight; just try to mitigate any further weight gain by cutting out the crap and snacks and exercising portion control! If you are hungry you should eat though, but try and eat healthy snacks rather than biccies

some women just hang onto extra fat during BFing (I'm one of them) and it drops off once they have stopped.

It's better to eat a healthy balanced diet (yawn!) and do some exercise, than to restirct your diet. Unfortunately, it is a simple matter of avoiding eating rubbish. Expect the weight to come off slowly, losing weight too fast will leave you tired which is not soemthing you need with a 3 month old! I put on HUGE amounts of weight with my DD who is 17 weeks tomorrow and I am very slowly losing weight now. It's dull and I am not used to ebeing so patient with weight loss but I know that slowly is the best thing for me and for DD. Good luck, it will come off eventually!

Thanks for the tips especially saying that the weight loss may be slow. Just for the last 2 weeks have been really really good - eating healthily and not eating biscuits or chocolate and doing Davina Mccall exercise videos 4 times a week. I even felt healthier and imagined I looked better but when I weighed myself I had lost precisely nothing - not one flipping pound. Grrr.
