my dd 6 months is bf. just started weaning and she does take little sips from a cup. I am soon to go back to work 2 days a week. she currently refuses a bottle - should i persevere with bottle or just forget bottles and go straight to a cup. i find it hard to imagine they could get enough milk down from a cup ?

Hi. I posted a related question under weaning recently here. Still not convinced that ds can take a full milk feed from a cup though, and friends have told me he will still need a bottle. Am going to call the HV and ask!

CT123- thanks for pointing me in direction of your thread. My HV said go straight to cup and bypass bottles - they should really be off teats by 12 months, so why bother forcing her to learn to use a bottle? on the other hand, how much time and patience would be needed though to get a few ounces of milk in through a doidy?!

I know what you mean! We have bought three different trainer cups (doidy, tommee tippee and nuk) to try with him. Hopefully he will like one of them but I just cannot see him drinking 7oz of milk from a cup.
