Hi

Do you have other symptoms? Does it hurt during/after feeding? Have you seen any evidence inside your baby's mouth?

Could it be mastitis? are there any red patches on your breasts that are hot to touch?

In either of these cases it is worth a quick trip to the GP, or mention to your midwife depending on the age of your dc.

There are plenty of things that can be done to help.

It def sounds like thrush from those symptoms.

They will probably give you Daktarin gel (or similar) which you apply to your nipples, baby's mouth and baby's bottom. You'll get seperate tubes for each!

It does get better and then might flare up again for a day or two before going completely.

HTH!

Oh, and they'll prob give you Canesten combi to get you sorted 'down there' as well!

To really help your body get rid of it try to avoid sugars and yeast for a while (hard, I know!).

Most important thing is to keep going with the BF. I had this with my DD and it was awful for a while, but once it cleared up I loved feeding her myself.

Good luck!

Sounds like thrush to me.

Other treatment option include Fluconazole capsule you take by mouth which also treats inside of breast and, as some of it is expressed in breast mild, your babies mouth. Definitely a good idea to see your GP.

Hope it gets better soon.

If the doctor gives you daktarin for your breast, make sure you get the cream rather than oral gel - the latter apparently has poor absorbency. Best advice re treatment is here
