So is it true or is it a myth that you carry an extra half stome while bf and it falls off when you stop?

I was 8 stone just pre dd (a bit too thin and hard to maintain)but am usually about 8 and a half. Anyway I'm 9 at the moment and wonder if it's bf or greed. Dd is 9 months now by the way

Has anyone lost weight when they stopped bf or is it wishful thinking on my behalf

I've just finished bfing ds2 after 2 years and I lost half a stone in the 10 days after his last feed. So I definitely must have been storing some.

Olihan now THAT i need to hear!

In the first group . DS is a v hungry baby, and I weighed less than I did pre pregnancy by the time he was 6 months. The downside of all this feeding is that quite slot of it goes on at night, so we still aren't getting much sleep.

kitkat9 · 31/01/2009 15:05

I'm in the second camp too - was planning on starting to exercise in the next couple of days (ds is 6 weeks today) but is there really any point if the weight isn't going to come off till I stop bf'ing?

Or am I just looking for an excuse to delay exercising and dieting for a few more months?

have heard about the sleep/weightloss thing - since I am averaging no more than 4 hours a night at the moment it seems like something else against me with trying to shift this weight!

I am about 11st 7lbs, want to lose at least 1 1/2 st so quite daunting. Am cutting out snacks and drinking more water. Also have a mini stepper on its way, it worked for me before in helping to tone up and drop a few pounds and since I can't get to the gym for the forseeable future I'm hoping it'll help.

Sachertorte · 31/01/2009 19:37

I´m in first camp, weight simply dropped off within first 6 weeks, was even less than pre-pregnancy weight!

ellideb · 31/01/2009 21:10

Went from 10st 5lbs up to 14st 7lbs whilst pregnant. Now down to 9st 13lbs and DS is 4 1/2 months old. Pleased to be in this category.

ellideb · 31/01/2009 21:12

And its because I joined slimming world 6 weeks after the birth. I also go for long walks almost daily and take the sling when I'm in need of a good workout!

tumtumtetum · 31/01/2009 21:57

Do you have to do a different thing with slimming world if you are BF or do you follow the same thing as everyone else?

I am going to be mahoosive after i pop this next sprog so thinking ahead!

Lizzylou · 31/01/2009 21:58

LOst 2 stone when I stopped with DS1, 2 1/2 when stopped with DS2

ellideb · 03/02/2009 18:33

You basically do the same thing but have extra healthy extras and they recommend you use all fo your daily 15 SYN allowance

weasle · 03/02/2009 22:14

glad i found this thread - i am definitely in the second category. Stubbornly 5kg overweight despite quite a bit of running and being careful with what i eat (after the first 4 months of cake-monster hunger!)

when i try to reduce my food or have skipped a meal i faint! not good.
