Yes! NHS Direct in good BF advice shocker!

Your BM will contain antibodies which may make him less likely to get it anyway.

wastingmyeducation · 29/01/2009 10:22

Keep bfing, he's likely to have been exposed already and so bfing is very important for you to pass on antibodies and keep him hydrated. Plus it would be very bad for you to just stop.
Hope you feel better soon!

belgo · 29/01/2009 10:24

Yes carry on breastfeeding him as much as possible, it will have the nutrients he needs to recover if he does become ill.

make sure you look after yourself and keep yourself well hydrated.

Just to add make sure you keep yourself well hydrated too - drink as much water as you can - hope you feel better soon!

I breastfed my baby through norovirus and it stopped her getting it (I belive). It is highly contagious and everyone else I knew got it.

Do not stop breastfeeding, I didn't, my DD was fine and you will be better very soon.

stickybean · 29/01/2009 17:54

I breastfed my baby through this in dec and she didn't get it. Was hard for me though.
I expressed a bit so that my DP could give it to her and i could sleep.
Wish you better.

Brangelina · 29/01/2009 17:57

I had this twice when my DD was tiny. I bfed her (trying not to vomit on her head) and she never got it.

Essie3 · 29/01/2009 21:24

I had some awful vomiting bug, and kept bfing - including a classy moment with baby on boob and DH holding a bucket whilst I, well, you know!
DS didn't get it, and apart from the horror of bfing and barfing*, all was well.

*sorry, I'm totally proud of that play on words.
