breastfeeding octuplets (not me...)

I've just read a story on the BBC news site that a lady in the USA has had octuplets and is "planning on breastfeeding all of them"! wow I admire her dedication, she'll never be on her feet again!
seriously though, would this be possible through expressing (a lot I imagine)?

I BF my son and i had a picture spring into my head of that poor woman in a milking parlour lol

Hope she does manage to though, even if only for a little while.. but i guess the body supplies the demand

well i suppose as they were all very tiny 2lb-3lb they wont need a large amount of milk for a while, though i do think she will have to express,

Surely theres just not enough time in the day though?
If one newborn baby feeds only 10 mins every hour say, then even if she breastfed 24/7 she'd still only have time to feed 6 of the babies!

Perhaps she is planning on expressing as much as possible and mix feeding all of them? Would seem more realistic

good luck to her I have trouble finding time to express for just one baby.

Remeber - you can feed tow at a time (in theory). So 10 minutes an hour would give her a whole 20 minutes an hour "free"!

true!

IHeartIona · 27/01/2009 15:28

well with 20 mins per hour free the world is her oyster!!

Maybe she should think about doing some sort of degree while on maternity leave with all her spare time

StealthPo09IsHere · 27/01/2009 15:33

seiously, good for her, though, however long she does it for. Even just giving them all a feed or two will be amazing.

Reminded me of the police officer who breastfed up to 9 babies after the China earthquake.

Remarkable.
