Just out of interest does any one's else child feed in wired postions. DD (10.5 months) favourite position at the mo, is on all fours in crawling position. It is helped by the fact I have ample bossoms!!! Today (in bed) she wanted to crawl and feed and so would go off for an explore of the bed and then move the duvet away and have a quick feed and then try and jump off the bed again.

Yes! Yes!Yes!

My 14 mo. dd likes to sit opposite me on the bed, or sometimes facing me on my knee, and then leans forwards to feed. This looks very uncomfortable, as her neck is over-extended, but if I try to move her she protests! She also latches on, then starts looking around the room, especially if Dad is doing something there at the same time. As her suck is very strong, we end up with a severe nipple-twisting situation.

Oh Yes - dd (10.5m) comes into bed for a play with me on Saturday mornings and will crawl all around the bed and come back for a quick snack any time she wants it. Having ample, droopy boobs helps her to get at milk from any angle. Favorite is sitting at my side whilst I'm lying down and bending double at the waist.

Ds's favourite os me lying on my back and him on all fours any where from on my tummy to on the bed. Nice to know I'm not the only one!

DD (10mths) loves to twiddle the right nip whilst feeding off the left.
I am sure she found Radio 2 the other day....

DebL my dd(12 months) does exactly the same and it can be very painful. She now goes on a hunt for the other nipple everytime she has a feed. She now lets me know she wants a feed by walking over to me pulling my top and then looking down it. Never realised how amusing feeding an older baby could be.

Maybe this should go on the "need encouragment to breastfeed" thread - breastfeed for enterment. My dp suggests writing a Karma Satura of breastfeeding positions

i thought i was strange in my stand up bend over baby chair on settee position-i always feel mighty silly if dp sees me doing this one.its works though cause it sends ds back to sleep if hes waking up from being put down!

SoupDragon · 14/04/2003 16:12

I once fed DS1 by leaning over the cot whilst he lay on his back. Once he'd fallen asleep and let go I could simply walk away - no trying to put him back without waking him. I admit I only did this once - it's not great for your back!
