Breastfeeding, weaning and nursery

My exclusively bfed DS is 7 months (today!) and is going to nursery next week. He's having 3 small meals of puree a day.
He was (pre-weaning) feeding every 3 hours during the day (and often at night too...). How often should he be having ebm/bfeeds during the day?
I'm concerned because he's reluctant to take a bottle or cup, and he's going to nursery full time next week (only for a week tho).

Also how much ebm should I leave at nursery?

My ds4 is 8 months old and has 2 X 4oz bottles of EBM in addition to his 3 puree meals. If he won't drink the EBM the staff mix it with a Liga ( sort of rusk, I don't know if they are available in the UK!)

My ds3 was also a very reluctant bottle-drinker and hardly drank any EBM in nursery but he still survived!

Thanks, chipmonkey, that's really helpful! I've been rather worried because all the weaning books and things say usual milk feeds PLUS the meals. But if he won't take ebm from a bottle and only takes, say, 2oz a go...
If they're mixing it with a Liga (you may have to score me some of them ) are they dunking or something? That was Mentioned today!

Pssssst!

I got Liga, I got Barry's Tea Bags, I got Tayto crisps........

Sorry, they immerse the Liga in the EBM and it goes all soggy and he apparently slurps it up! And all thetime I've spent preparing lovely organic purees for him and he loves that stuff!

Hehehe, you can be my dealer! I live on Anglesey so can travel to Dublin quickly and easily. But not with a baby!

Liga is totally Irish, I don't think you can find a supplier anywhere else. Nursery did say something about rusks.
Barry's Tea I get here, but I've decided that I will only drink Fortnum and Mason's Irish Breakfast Tea now. (Yeah, right!)

Hi Essie,

My DS was a total boob monster and despite being on solids when he went to nursery would still like milk 2 hourly at home. He absolutely refused a bottle from anyone ever and managed to survive just fine at nursery (from 8 am til 4 pm). He used to have a feed in the morning, when i picked him up, when we got home, an hour later, then bed, when I went to bed - and then actually usually slept through. He was absolutely fine.

If he is on solids there is no reason for him to need milk in the day - as long as he has plenty in the morning and evening when you pick him up? Perhaps try a sippy cup instead of a bottle - or indeed mix it with rusks or even send in your own purees mixed with ebm? I found the simple tommy tippy free flow cups best as it kind of dripped in. Saying that it still took him til he was over a year to drink from those - and that was water! He is still a fuss pot and will only drink water now
