Statistics for bf versus ff please?

I have no idea what percentage of mums bf or ff. If I had to guess within my peer group I'd say about 30% bf and 70% ff. I'm assuming that bf means bf for more than 4 months.

Does anone know the real stats?

Try googling Infant Feeding Survey 2005 - that has all the stats for feeding at different ages, reasons for stopping etc.

Look for Infant Feeding 2005 on the web, jocesar. It's the most up to date UK survey. Your question cant be ansswered simply - you need to clarify whether you mean start bf or maintain bf, and for how long.

I know that 76 per cent of women start bf.

Bf doesn;t mean 'for more than 4 mths', at least not in the survey. It means 'initiates breastfeeding'.

You'd also need to distinguish between excl bf and partial bf.
