How many hours can I go without feeding before I explode?

Does anyone have any advice on how long I can last comfortably without bf my 4 month dd? I am going for a day out this weekend and will be missing about 3-4 feeds (she feeds every 3-4 hours). I can be flexible about when I leave and come home so wanted to know what is realistic (I don't really want to have to express when watching a performance of Dirty Dancing!).

I went to a wedding without DD when she was 5 months. Missed 3 feeds and I was ready to pump as soon as I got through the door, it was uncomfortable but not painful.

Hi Same as babyocho, I am also going to see Dirty dancing next w-end and will be missing a whole days feeding as I live quite far from London, I did something similar when baby was 4 months old I took my pump and just relived some pressure but only took off about 2ozs each side, ( my baby is big and feeds alot!!) I felt ok but did need to feed when I got home and kept him awake to to empty both sides, felt a bit tender the following day but just kept feeding as usual and was fine by the evening.

This is my 3 ds I have bf and would just say use some good reliable pads take some extra with you and when u feel milk come in this should release some pressure.

Enjoy!!

3 feeds starts to get pretty uncomfortable. Take a wide mouth bottle in your bag, and hand express a bit each time you go to the loo to relieve the pressure - it really makes a difference

I would have been v uncomfortable if I went a day without feeding - usually missing one feed was enough! I would second what cmotdibbler said. I've expressed a bit down a toilet before just to relieve the pressure! It was the best feeling in the world when I could feed DS again...just shows that it's not just them that needs us - we need them too!

StarlightMcKenzie - really? I've never known or heard of this

Went most of the day without feeding to go to a wedding and ouch it was sore, kept hand expressing everytime I went ot the loo but it was very painful by the end of the day. The sheer relief at getting home I had baby on one and pump on the other, she was 8 weeks at the time.
