PLease could you tell me if ranitidine has an instant effect or whether it is accumulative? I have been presribed to me for my 3 month old, but i hate to use mediction unless it's really necessary an just wondered how ong i would have to try it for before i could tell if it is working or not.....

Hi,
I was prescribed this for my LO and like you was reticent to use medication unless absolutely necessary.
My LO would scream for up an hour after feeds, fuss when feeding, hardly eat, was dropping down the centiles etc and after about a week of Ranitidine the screaming stopped and he started to take more. I won't lie and say it's a miracle cure, feeding my LO is still not easy and he has the odd few days of being bad again but on the whole it's made a huge difference and made him much more comfortable.
Hope it works for your LO

Thank you so much for that, and did you use it 3 times a day after feeds?

well the way i saw it was use it like a preventiive of pain. it is for the burning pain they get when the acid comes up from stomach during/after a feed so i personally think best just before feed. others may say different, try and see whats best for your LO
