my son is 8 weeks and weighs 14lb. he was 7lb15 birth. he feeds at least every 4 hours, more like 2 mostly. is it possible im overfeeding him? he does bring up lots of milk too, after most feeds. a family member was commenting today, saying how chubby he is, and that im overfeeding him, i didnt think it was possible? tell me my father this family member doesnt know what hes talking about

I disagree, sorry. It's not the sleep that's important, it's the gap between the feeds. Most babies don't take ebm hourly. So it's not about whether they're sleeping for 3 hours, it's the frequency of feeding. So if they feed 3 hourly they need 3oz. You take the amount of feeds per 24 hours divide 25oz by that number. I wouldn't be taking sleep into account until it was 4-5 hours or more at a stretch.

You seem to be quite right CC, sorry.

I have been given advice in the past about the sleeping thing. Maybe the BFC assumed that my baby was sleeping a long stretch at night and based her advice on that.
