after bathtime ds (5 months) is bf to sleep (which is a different problem i know i should solve...) i then am unable to burp him so he wakes 45 mins later and burps as soon as i pick him up.

lay him down flat, then pick up again, works for mine

Hold him upright on your shoulder for a few mins after feeding until wind comes up, then put down gently.

I used to drape mine over my shoulder so their arms were up and going over my shoulder and their torso was nice and stretched. Then I would rub in a circular motion on their backs until a burp came up. Nice and gentle and gives you a lovely warm snuggly baby to sniff .

pop over your shoulder and go up/ down stairs. Always worked a treat with mine (but muslin handy first!) and they stay asleep as long as you keep moving.

have tried laying him down - jut leads to grizzling and waking up - he senses when I put him down on his back and wakes up even if he seems to be in the deepest sleep - very dull.

have tried upright on shoulder and nothing happens...

haven't tried the stairs! Will give it a go tonight

thanks for the suggestions everyone!
