Yesterday and today my 8 month old DD has done nowt but bite me. She's got her four front teeth now and fuck me, it hurts. She's drawn blood twice and my nipple is throbbing.

She went through a phase like this a few months ago, before the teeth came through, and after a few days she stopped. When she bites, i tap her lightly on the nose and say sternly 'no, we don't bite mammy' and put breast away.

Have to say there's been an occasion or two where the shock and pain of her biting me has almost caused me to throw her across the room(ok - bit of an overdramatisation, but you get my drift..)

What can i do to stop this? Any tips or ideas?

You have my sympathy...it's ouchy. I have been there with the over enthusoastic reaction to it though; you just can't help it sometimes. When DD used to bite me it was generally associated with teething or else boredom towards the end of the feed.

I used to take her off, then put her on the floor facing away from me until I had collected myself.

I also started watching her closely and when I could see she wasn't actively feeding I'd take her off before the boredom, and biting started. I soon got used to her cues that she was done and we never had an issue after that.

there's some more advice on kellymom
