Formula Question

We're heading to australia with our little boy next month. He'll be 7.5 months old. Currently we're using Aptamil which is not available in Oz. The do have Heinz Nurture and Wyeth which seems to be an SMA equivalent.

I don't think I will have enough lugguage allowance to cart 6 or so tubs of aptamil with me so wonder how easy it is to swap formula over?

I'd be more inclined to go with Heinz as I can't be sure that Wyeth is SMA 100%. Any thoughts. Don't want to upset his tummy.

How long are you going for??

Dd was on SMA and it didnt agree with her - She got very bad spots on her face and bad wind. We swapped her to Hipp and she was much better.

I would look at the ingredients and change to the one most similar.

Also, maybe swap him to Heinz Nuture now so that you know he is ok with it before you go.

I've swapped about between SMA, Cow & Gate, and Aptamil (depending what was available). He doesn't seem to notice the difference at all!

You should be able to find out whether it is the same or not.

Took my ds's usual Cow and Gate solid food jars to Holland when we went to see grandparents, only to discover that the jars are the same as the 'Olvarit' ones I grew up with there!

They pick different names due to what sounds 'trusted' in that particular country.

Wyeth is the name of the international biomedical company which owns thw SMA brand, iirc. look on an SMA can near the bottom somewhere.

it is common for formulations with the same brand name to be slightly different in another country anyway so aptamil here will be slightly different elsewhere anyway.
