Donating milk - how?

MrsTittleMouse · 03/01/2009 21:37

Does anyone know how to become a breastmilk donor? I tried emailing the ukamb.org who asked for my details, but haven't got back with me. I suppose that it could be due to the Christmas break, but I was wondering if there is any other way to donate?

I can't express loads of milk, but I probably could get an extra 3oz a day, which from websites seems to be worth the effort.

ring your local hospital that has a Scubu?

Who would I ask for though, at the hospital? I thought about that as a good option, as I've just given birth there, so they would know that I'm healthy and not carrying any nasty diseases from my antenatal checks.

Contact your nearest milk bank. Details here. Some will take donors from quite a distance, e.g. Queen Charlotte's take people from N Herts. 3oz a day would be enough.

In the SE, but not London. Don't want to be more specific - sorry - too much info about me on here!

that's fine.. try the London banks though, if you haven't already.. i used to work in Southampton & know they covered quite a distance with collections, so you may be ok.
