Ds is just over 5 months and feeding was going well after a rocky start (all my issues - pain etc). His 2 bottom teeth have come through recently and he's bitten me 3 times in 2 days on the same nipple. It really hurts.

What do i do?

I tend to scream I know I should either take him off and put him down immediately or pull him into the breast but I haven't got beyond screaming yet.

And how do i carry on cos it HURTS!!!!!!!!????

DS 'experimented' with his new teeth on me few times as well and it IS very sore! I screamed too Like you say, you can detatch them or you can also hold them in closer - this pushes the nipple to the back of the mouth away from the teeth! You might find that they do this more at the end of a feed when they're full up - so as they start to pull away you can pre-empt and detatch them before they actually bite - good luck!

I'm trying to watch him towards the end of a feed - but think that i'm not going to see the signs as well at night when we're in an almost dark (light from baby monitor only) room. ARGH!

Hoping it is only a temporary experimentation of cannibalism....

Detatch, say no and avoid eye contact. Have lots of sympathy for you, my ds2 is also going through this stage!

My DD2 (7 months) has recently cut her 4th tooth so has all the front ones. It bloody hurts doesn't it?

Everyone always told me they bite once or twice but as long as you say no firmly and detach them, they'll stop. Lola must have missed that memo! Grr.

hiya ALBS we are at the same stage teeth almot through and she is biting me, also tries to turn round to have a look when feeding and takes my nipple with her that hurts too.

With the others I would unlatch them, hook up my bra and the feed would be over, if I knew they were hungry I would relatch them in 5 minutes but they very soon got the message.

with my DD she did it at first by accident and i screamed and made a big deal out of it. Then she did it because she thought i was now a big squeaky toy, i have had to learn not to react she nearly two now and does occassionally does it but she doesn't see it as a game anymore.
i know how much it hurts but i tried not react and turn it in a game of squeaky mummy.
