Not leaking... am I supposed to be?

I'm 39+2 in my first pregnancy, and fully intend to give BF a good shot, but have had no leaking at all to date. Not complaining as such, just wondering whether to worry... or does it all happen 'by magic' when the baby is born?

i had no leaking whilst pregnant with both my girls. I started to leak once my milk came in a couple of days after the birth. I breastfed both. Give breastfeeding a good shot it can be awkward at first but gets easier and more comfortable with time. Its a new skill neither you or your baby has done before.

I didn't leak one bit either. Milk came in no problems (slight delay due to circumstances of birth), breastfeeding has gone beautifully (DS now almost 11 months). Don't stress about it. And congratulations and good luck to you!!

don't panic!

I had mere drops of colostrum when pg with dd2 - not even enough to wet my bra.

However, when my milk came in on day 4 my boobs more than made up for it. In fact, 13wks on and I still get caught out!!

Thank you! I love this website . I get to ask all the things I forget about when the midwife's in front of me. Natural born worrier, me. Thank you for allaying another concern!

I never leaked with dd or ds and it really did happen by magic after birth- both fed beautifully and the leaking after birth more than made up for the lack of beforehand

I didn't leak before the birth and even though bf is going well and 5wk old dd is gaining weight like a fiend, I still don't leak - I think some people just don't. Echo usnkidz, I find breastfeeding is very hard but I'm assured that it does get better, good luck!!

I never leaked and convinced myself I had no colostrum. Mentioned it to mw after dd's birth, she squeezed my nip and out it came, lo guzzled it immediately.

I didn't leak when I was pregnant or when I was bfing either (unless my DS was having a lie in and hadn't fed for hours). My milk came in by magic within 14 hours of giving birth and I had a CS. Don't worry

I agree, some people just never leak, either before or after baby's birth! My friend recently gave me a whole box of unopened breast pads because she'd never had any use for them... while I still get massive let-downs several times a day and could not leave the house without breast pads and spares (and that with an 11-month-old DS ).
