Excess wind and crying baby

In the last few days, my two-week-old girl has been very unsettled after her feeds. For a few nights, she was screaming her head off between 2-8am and we were sure she had colic. However, the midwife is pretty certain that it's not colic but excess wind. I'm also wondering whether my baby is often hungry and I don't realise it/am not feeding her enough.

Does anyone know if excess wind is a common problem in young babies and a major cause of crying. Is this the most likely explanation for her being so unsettled?

If it is the cause, what do I do about it? I've tried winding her for 10 minutes after each feed and giving her Infacol, but she doesn't seem to be any better.

Please help!

Katy

is she breastfed? if you're worried that she is hungry then just offer the breast and see if that helps.
fwiw though i do think some babies are just like this. ds2 was absolutely horrnedous and would scream for hours at night and nothing could calm him.

i can highly recommend the book "the happiest baby on the block" by dr harvey karp, it really helped me
