How much should a 6 mth old be drinking?

My 6 mth old was excl bf until couple of weeks ago. We've started to introduce formula, just 1 bottle a day so far. Thing is, he will only take max 4 oz at one go. He is a real snacker, and likes to bf every 1.5 hours or so, day and night (and so as a result I am up all night feeding, or it feels like this anyway!)

I'd really like to increase the volume he'll take at one sitting, but am having no success. How much should I expect him to be able to take in a bottle? I was thinking 7-8oz?

at 6 months ds had 5 milk feeds with 1 being in the night. He never really took more than 6 or 7 oz at a time (a couple of times 8oz but not often)

my ds2 is nearly 5 months and is bf apart from 1 ff early eve. Like yours he only takes a max of 4-5 oz, sometim es as little as 2-3. he will happily go 2-3.5 hours between bf and aslso after the ff so i think that must just be how he is. It'll be interesting to see what others say as once my ds2 has decided he's finished thats it he will not have anymore! My ds1 was the opposite and would guzzle milk whenever it was offered( bf or ff).
