Dehydration

DS is nearly 5 months old and was exclusively BF for 3 months but I gave up when he wouldn't keep much down and constantly wanted fed. He now gets a special Aptamil Easy Digest for comfortable digestion and is much more satisfied as he doesn't throw it all back up.

The problem is that I have read that formula fed babies need water to keep them hydrated unlike BF babies. I have tried giving him water from a bottle but he wont drink it and just ends up getting upset when he realises its not milk.

Any advice? Also how much water do they need?

Jenice, ff babies don't need water, unless it's unusually hot in high summer in the UK. Your HV should confirm this

my formula fed ds never had extra water till he started on solids around 5 1/2 months and even then it was a few sips from a cup along with his meal. It took a fair few weeks until he started taking more than that.
