she has just got over a vomiting bug which had her off her solids other than a few bites for about 6 days, and is now bfing for britain!
do you think this is due to the bug and will settle down, or could there be a timely growth spurt in there too?

she was down to 4 bfs a day plus 3 meals prior to the bug, but is now on about 5-6 a day plus 1-2 at night, and longer feeds too, and wanting to feed all evening, not going into deep sleep until 10-11 pm.
please reassure me!

(we have been through several growth spurts of course at this stage, so was thinking this might be an extra factor here.)

It's difficult to say for sure. I've certainly noticed this sort of change of feeding pattern after illness with my 2.

thanks Grendle, am hoping it will settle now she is back on solids. currently enjoying my first 30 mins downstairs in the evening this week (and dh is bloody out!)

DS (9 months) has been doing cluster feeds again. I don't know why...

IHeartIona · 21/12/2008 21:27

glad to hear I am not the only one ilovemydog, though of course I feel sorry for you too!
none of my friends are still only breastfeeding, they have all either switched to bottles partially or fully, so have no-one in RL to compare notes with any more...

My RL friends are over achievers. One friends 3 month old is sleeping through the night. another is waking up at midnight and sleeping through...

DS has never slept through - I don't know why. But last week, I was away for 3 days, and back in the evening, which may have been the reason he did the marathon feeds, but actually think he was feeding all evening before this.

I think they have varying growth patterns. They feed more when they need it, I guess.

At least is keeping the supply up!

IHeartIona · 21/12/2008 21:49

know what you mean, I don't even discuss sleeping with RL friends anymore! you'd think I was the only one to cosleep and feed a 9 mo in the night.
yep we will have great supplies. hope I manage to get a couple of glasses down me for Xmas though!
