I have! They were in the Guardian (I think) a few years ago.

They could do with correcting the typo on the website though - Making Beastfeeding Fashionable

AnarchyInAManger · 15/12/2008 19:34

They sound wonderful don't they - every area needs that level of support offered.

StealthPolarBear · 15/12/2008 19:38

Hadn't noticed the beastfeeding maybe a freudian slip!
Do you think they sound wonderful? Just struck me how little advice is on their site, and their hlpful links is a list of ads

I think they were on that CH4 bfing programme a few years back. I remember a very young mum (or she looked it) with a toddler. They all came across as very nice and knowledgable(and quite normal, even though the rest of the show was a bit 'oh my god, look at teh crazy bfer's)
I think it was Extreme bfing or soemthing like that.

And I think they did a very cool calender with young mums bfing as well last year

The website isn't that well designed but the level of support they offer is amazing - every woman who starts BF in the area gets a named supporter who visits them and they run daily BF groups!

We are trying to set up something similar in Harrow. I phoned the lady that runs it only last week to find out lots of info. Amazing thing they have done. It's really turned round the breastfeeding rates in that area and the fact they are a professional group (ie paid employees) gives them a lot more clout with other health professionals. Sounds brilliant!

StealthPolarBear · 15/12/2008 20:45

This is what they actually do

It includes data gathering to show what the red books are missing/recording inaccurately which I think is quite important.

StealthPolarBear · 15/12/2008 20:53

ah fantastic thanks
Had looked at that page but it had frozen after the 1st paragraph, I didn't realise there was more!
