Can you mix Ranitidine with BM to make it taste more palatable?

Or does this affect the effectiveness of the medication?

I used to just use a syringe to the back of the mouth to get it in. It tastes foul, and I don't expect that it would be any nicer mixed with ebm. Presumably you're dealing with reflux?

I tried it with EBM this morning and he drank it happily but now concerned it will reduce the effectiveness of the ranitidine. Also how longs does it take for the medicine to do its job?

no idea on whether it reduces effectiveness, but I guess if you can get him to take it "straight" then you don't need to worry. I used to lie my daughter across my legs with her head a bit lower and just squirt it in. If you stroke his throat it activates a swallow reflex. We also had domperidone and gaviscon. I seem to recall that we saw fairly immediate improvement although she was 10 months before the reflux stopped.

i was told once by doctor that it is more difficult for babies to spit out, when it is squirted into cheek, rather than back of mouth.
not sure if true or not, but thought was worth posting.
sorry to hear about the reflux, it gets better with time (or does it just become easier to deal with?)
with katsch though - our ds was 9months before he grew out of it (although they can grow out of it much younger).
good luck

I don't see why not - my DD2 was tube fed and we were told to put the ranitidine into the syringe along with the breast milk. (We couldn't put anything in her mouth at all.)
