HAve BF dd for 17 weeks, after feeding DD1 for 11 months. However DD2 is VERY un settled and using breast as a soother. So, after another night with no sleep (she in with us attatched to me again!!). I have stopped offering it to her and given her formula. She sucks greadily at bottle and seems generally more settled. AND slept in own bed. She even took a dummy in between to settle.

BUT I feel awful!!!!

You are not terrible at all! You are doing what works for you and your baby.

I understand how you are feeling though as I was in a similar situation with my DD.

Be kind to yourself. x

no - you're doing what your dd wants and seems happy. had same issue so don't duff yourself up (and I didnt last 17 weeks) x

17 weeks is still a great start for your DD. Don't beat yourself up

I got you. DS is 12 weeks and BF is on the way out - he's thriving on formula. Breaks your heart doesn't it....but you gave it a brilliant go and have nothing to feel bad about!

Have a look here
You've done a great thing for your baby already by getting this far.
If you really want to stop then you must do so, but there is still support out there for you if you needed help to mix feed or go back to breastfeeding.
Well Done

17 weeks is excellent! You should be really proud of yourself.

nickytinseltimes · 09/12/2008 13:02

DOn't feel awful.

You have done a great job getting to 17 weeks.

StephanieByng · 09/12/2008 13:33

You have done so well and given her a fantastic start. Nohing to feel awful about! You can't exist on no sleep; your kids need you to be well enough to look after them!

rocketupbum · 09/12/2008 20:40

I beat myself up so much with DS about giving him a bottle. Now i look back he was so much happier and I would be much more prepared to do this with DD. 17 weeks is more than many.
