My DS is EBF. Last night and this morning he has refused to be BF. He did latch on last night but pulled away after a couple of sucks and keeps pushing me away. He has had a chesty cough and runny nose for a few days and has been a bit clingy the last 24 hours but is a bit more playful now as I gave him some calpol about 20 mins ago. He is not pooing very much. He is eating some and drinking loads of water. He hasn't got a temp.
What shall I do ? he has never refused to be BF before. Shall I keep trying to feed him ? wondering whether to take him to the drs so they can check his ears and chest ? any advice please ?
thx

I'd take him to the GP but you could go and see your HV or breastfeeding clinic if you have one nearby. It might be teeth though? BF can hurt them if they are teething, also I had this when DS had a really bad sore throat, as the nipple goes really far down their mouth and if he has a sore throat, feeding will hurt. I gave EBM in a sippy cup while he got over his sore throat, make sure you express how much you would feed him so that your supply doesn't diminish.

Thanks - really struggle with expressing but hopefully it will be easier than normal as I am starting to feel very full !
