BF disgusting and FF horrible.........

So how do we feed our children then?

My cousins girlfriend had her little girl 4 weeks ago. Today she went shopping with a friend who has a 5 week old ds.

My cousins dp BF's and her friend FF's, they went to have lunch and while there both babies wantes their lunch too. The same old woman had a go at cousins dp for BF in public as it is 'disgusting' but then had a go at her friend for FF as it is a horrible way to feed a baby.

So how are we meant to feed our DC's?

Cousin's DP is a bit upset as it was the first time she had BF in public.

what a nasty cow!!!

devoutsceptic · 07/12/2008 17:11

Tell the crazy hag to fuck off. Works wonders.

kayzisexpecting · 07/12/2008 17:14

It just completely surprises me how one person can complain about both types of feeding. Should we let them starve?

Yes well kids should be kept indoors till they are long enough to sip their Chablis with the rest of us, dontchaknow?

Silly cow. Had I been there I would have stood up for both of them and told her to sod right off!

StealthPolarBear · 07/12/2008 17:21

As a mother your place is in the wrong!

MadamDeathstarOverBethlehem · 07/12/2008 17:25

The only response to her would be to tell her to go away and ask the manager to remove her if she won't leave their area voluntarily. I am sure they wouldn't want customers bothered in this way.

How on earth is it any of her business? If she doesn't like to watch breastfeeding, turn the other way for goodness sake. I am sure she wouldn't have wanted to listen to the two babies crying with hunger either so she would have had a go at them either way.

kayzisexpecting · 07/12/2008 17:51

I've told her to just ignore people like this old woman as they have nothing better to do.

Presumably ebm would satisfy her. Although I assume she didn't actually check that the ff mum had formula before she ranted?
Myabe she's a baby-rice-at-10-days kind of woman. Milk is for wimpy babies

PeriodicalCicada · 07/12/2008 18:14

Maybe she expects the BFing mums to erect a special 'modesty tent' around themselves so she doesn't have to see the baby feeding?

Or maybe she's just a miserable old hag I bet she tuts at anyone who dares to come near her with a pram/buggy too!

StealthPolarBear · 07/12/2008 18:16

Wonder if you can get portable 'old bag' tents? In the style of parrot cage covers? Now they would be useful and I bet would go like hot cakes as presents for pg women - better than hooter hiders.
Maybe I won't post this as I may have found a niche in the market...

NotQuiteCockney · 07/12/2008 18:32

Oh, yes, an 'old bag' tent sounds like the ideal solution.

FunnyLittleFrog · 07/12/2008 18:35

I'll buy one of those old bag tents Stealth - never knew how downright rude some old women could be until I got pregnant.

In tne health centre the other day one particularly lovely lady accused me of nipping my dd because she was grizzling a bit

TinselBaublesMistletoe · 07/12/2008 18:49

Remind your cousin that it's nothing to do with NIP because she complained at her friend too - she'd have obviously had a go however your cousin was feeding her baby - and not to let her put her off.

StarlightWonderStarlightBright · 07/12/2008 18:52

Agree. Tis nothing about her bfing in public and everything about a horrid lady with no friends needing to feel important!

Piffle · 07/12/2008 18:54

I would have said
Wish no one had bothered to feed you at birth
But then I'm a total bitch about baby feeding comments
I redefine narky

WewishyouaBUMPERLICIOUS · 07/12/2008 19:07

God that's awful. I bfed DD for 15mo and never once had a negative comment. How unlucky for your cousin and her friend. People should just mind their own fecking business. God, how very dare people criticise strangers like, for anything, let alone feeding their baby.

kayzisexpecting · 07/12/2008 19:12

This is what I am dreading about BF in public when I have my baby.

piscesmoon · 07/12/2008 19:19

How can bf possibly be disgusting?!
Most people are lovely-most of them don't even notice you are doing it because there is nothing to see. Don't be put off.

WewishyouaBUMPERLICIOUS · 07/12/2008 19:24

Honestly Kayz it's so unlikely, you just need to practise your "fuck of you complete scum" face! But you'll never have to use it! Bf with pride, you are completely one hundred per cent entitled to do it.

piscesmoon · 07/12/2008 19:26

I did it with 3 DSs all over the place and never got a nasty comment-it is possible.

StealthPolarBear · 07/12/2008 19:28

kayz my DS is 20mo I still bf in public and have never had anything said to me at all

StealthPolarBear · 07/12/2008 19:29

Not a good advert for the old bag hiders I realise

BouncingTinsel · 07/12/2008 19:29

I hope they both told the batty old cow to sod off!!
She's clearly nuts.... I supposed she thinks they should be fed on Carnation milk and rusks

Kayz - I'm normally a shy and wimpy non-confrontational person, but apparently I get a 'don't fuck with me look' on my face when I'm feeding ds. I think it comes naturally.

Tidey · 07/12/2008 19:30

Possible response: 'Well, I went to McDonalds and asked them to liquidize a Big Mac for the baby, but the sesame seeds were making him cough.'

kayzisexpecting · 07/12/2008 19:31

I will have to practice my 'don't fuck with me look'. I didn't manage to BF my DS and got a few comments about it when we were out so I am hoping it might have toughened me slightly.
