A tad worried...

My little boy is just over 5 months and has virtually over the last 4-5 days stopped taking full feeds. He will take just 2-3 oz and just not be bothered with the rest.

He's happy and not unwell but I am a bit worried about him not taking enough. The only full feed he will take is his dream feed at 10.30.

Any thoughts?

Is he getting distracted?

My 5mth old is very erractic in feeding & is on & off the breast looking around, or chatting to me. She is very alert & trying to take it all in.

On the occasions she has a bottle of EBM I sit her up on my lap so she can look around. Seems to make her happier!

We're making a point of tv off etc so he doesn't get distracted but it doesn't seem to help. Might try him on my knee instead of leaning back.

My 5 month old daughter is exactly the same, very distracted during the day, seems more happy to listen or watch what is going on than feed. Still breastfeeding but it's getting a tad embarassing out and about when she unlatches to have a look at whats going on instead!
Makes up for it by feeding every 2 to 3 hours at night though {cry}

I'm a great believer that babies and children regulate their own appetite though, I wouldn't worry about it unless your son seems unwell.

Oh my 5 months looks at ANYTHING! TV often not on anyway, but she will look out window, at floor, at older sister, at dog.....

Sometimes I will sing/talk to her, so she is watching my lips move, sometimes helps.
