Any reflux experts out there? I'm quite worried about my little girl, 5 mo. old. She had a sickness / diarrhoea bug which started with 24h or so vomiting ten days ago, diarrhoea since which is gradually clearing up. So far, so much what I expected. But, since then she has had several vomiting episodes and now seems really quite uncomfortable. She is waking up screaming, slept really badly last night, and has been doing that 'grunting' cry which I have heard from friends' babies with reflux a lot of the time. She is coughing a lot and the coughs are triggering vomiting once in a while.

We have taken her to the GP (twice) who has ruled out the obvious ear / throat infections etc but did mention reflux as a possibility. I associate this with younger babies? She has always posseted a bit and does an "I am in pain" high pitched, very loud scream when she needs burping, and she often posseted when having her nappy changed, but I didn't think much of it till now.

I am wondering whether the vomiting bug may have damaged her oesophagus a bit and caused an existing mild reflux condition to flare up. Is this possible, and if so is it likely to settle on its own? And what can we do to keep her comfortable in the meantime? My dp is going frantic as he has never seen her in pain before and desperately wants to fix it.

oh, also, she is exclusively breastfed at mo. and hasn't started solids yet. Was wondering if baby rice might help, or if it is silly to start solids when her system's been upset already ...
