11 day old DS constipated. Should I change formula?

DS has been on Cow & Gate premium since birth & apart from not taking more than 2oz per feed seemed ok on it until Tuesday. He has been constipated since then and becomes distressed when straining. He did have an explosion in his nappy during Tuesday night but is now constipated again. To help relieve him we have been massaging his anus with wet wipes to encourage him to go & giving cooled boiled water between feeds. The health visitor diagnosed oral thrush on Wednesday and said this was reason why he was not taking more milk & said constipation would sort itself out. Today he has been very unsettled & only settled down after DH did massage.

Will the constipation fix itself out or should we look at changing his milk? If we do change should we change to a comfort/easy digest formula?

TIA

Constipation will probably sort itself out.

Only thing I would say is make sure you are not making up the milk too strong, people have a tendency to squash down the powder a bit into the measure or not to even scrap off the top. Just make sure the measures are leel and not packed in.

Babies can look a bit stressed and straining anyway when they poo.

He doesnt just look stressed he screams as he strains. When I add milk scoop milk without packing & use built in level thing to scrape off excess. Think will make appointment to see GP. Wasnt sure if I should when HV wasnt bothered about constipation but have seeing him scream in pain.

The milks I was thinking of swapping to are Cow & Gate Comfort or Aptimil Easy Digest. I gave DD1 Cow & Gate Comfort when it was called Omneo but think it was 2nd stage used as she was over 6 months.
