And why does she pull angrily at you? Is it because you're beginning to discourage her? If so, is there any other reward you can offer her to wean her off BF? Or don't you really want to at present?

If you want to give up then I would start weaning. How about a half way measure and give up all exept the bedtime feed. I continued this one till ds was 15 months and was beginning talking. Must say I wasn't too comfortable with bf him once he could ask for it!

Socci, I'm sure she would lose interest at some point naturally - there aren't any breastfeeding 10-year-olds, despite Little Britain.

I have a friend who weaned her 2.5 year-old by explaining to her that mommy wanted to be able to have coffee and wine again.

Obviously, if you want to quit now, going away is a good opportunity. You probably could go away, not express, and still be able to feed when you get back.

You certainly should still go on the holiday, whatever's going on, as it sounds like a lovely break!

I went away for5 days when ds was nearly 2. He seemed to manage fine without me. When I returned he just resumed bf. However I think because I was pregnant at the time my "milksupplies" were minimal so didn't have problems with "big balloons on my chest..."

BTW I have a dd now, 2 next year and she has quite a temperament as well so I knnow what you mean by the angry pulling and wanting it NOW!!!!

I'd go. Express if you must, but as said, after such a time b/feeding, the milk won't dry up straight away. She'll find other stuff to occupy her while you're gone.
