Weaning toddler from BF

I just wanted to hear some of your experiences and hopefully tips for weaning toddlers from the breast.

My DD is 20 months old and I'm amazed that we've got this far but personally I'd like to begin to wean her gradually. She's more or less night weaned, and has BFs first thing in the morning, for her afternoon nap (when I'm not at work) and before bed.

I weaned DD1 at 15 months. It was much easier than I thought. We went to the supermarket & chose a special cup for feeding and that was the 'replacement' - think it was more me feeling sad I think!

Thanks lionmummy and Psychobabble! DD shows little sign of self-weaning so I think we'll be going on lots of walks - oh well hopefully I'll burn more calories at least...

I bf my dd until she was about 28months we did it gradually from morning and evening with the occasional afternoon one.
the evening one was not bf to sleep.
over time it became don't offer don't refuse, at one point she would go for a day or two without bf

at that point the only time she asked for bf was during the night if she woke up, I then decided to tell her it would be finished n a couple of soon and within 2 days when she woke up I said gently no held her but no boob it took about a week and there were tears but
perfectly fine afterwards

not sure if helpful

thanks sfxmum, that does help

Been keeping busy and giving DD more activities to distract her from the breasts, so far so good...
