Breast feeding + antibiotics?

Anyone have any experience of using antibiotics and breastfeeding? I have food poisoning that is wiping me out and docs having resisted giving it for a while are now suggesting a course of antibiotics... can i carry on bfeeding does anyone know or will i have to give formula while taking the antibios? many thanks. feeling rotten and don't want to have the course but just not getting better. My LO has only tried formula once too and didnt go down well at all... not sure what to do

I had a course of ABs while BF DS and it was fine (think it was erythromycin but could be mistaken). Here is info on what you can take.

You might want to take probiotics at the same time though, to minimise your chances of getting thrush.

I have had 2 lots of antibiotics while BF. I just asked the dr to gve me antibiotics that were ok to take while bf. Had no problems.

oh MegBusset and pudding25 you have cheered me up so much! feels like i've been up and up Everest to get to the point that breast feeding is working and don't want to stop just because of a bad curry! I will have a look. thank you so much. you can get probiotics from health food shops right?

yes just amke sure you let GP know your Bfing. Im on them atm too
