Breastfeeding clothes

Does anyone know where I can get breastfeeding tops from - I have only seen them in the JoJoMamanbebe catalogue and they are only a limited range. I want something a little more fashionable really but more discreet than lifting my top every where we go.

Any ideas

I did buy a breastfeeding dress and 2 tops from jojo - however, found them to be quite huge - and having been fed up wearing huge maternity wear, and having lost a reasonable amount of birth weight quite quickly - I opted mostly for sticking to nice teeshirts, with a cardi, so that I could discreetly lift my top in public places, with the added "security" of the cardi, or overshirt to wrap around me and the baby (so noone could see my wobbly bits from the side or back!!) - noone ever noticed I was breastfeeding in public, and I did it everywhere, including Cost coffee, old ladies tea rooms, park benches etc!!!

Having spent money on maternity wear which I wouldn't wear again (for a while!!) I resented to continue buying "specialist" clothes, and was pleased to start wearing my old clothes again (even if they were, and still are a bit on the tight side!!) and felt that if I bought new (bigger clothes) I could at least still wear them when I stopped breastfeeding rather than adding them to the maternity collection.

Another reason was that I couldn't afford to buy tonnes of breastfeeding tops, and again got bored with wearing the same two teeshirts and one dress over and over again!

I never found anyone else who sold breastfeeding tops, but that's not to say there arn't any others?!

I loved my breastfeeding tops. I lived in them for six months! I bought them on the net from 'Motherhood'

I didn't like the breastfeeding shirt I bought and found it more preferable to wear a botoom/top combination.

I would have loved to have found a really good dress to wear though, but when I was breastfeeding they were too frumpy.

Nerdgirl - that site is great - I'm glad you told me as they seem more fashionable than JoJo as well as not being quite so large as I seem to have shed the weight quite quickly and the last thing I want is to continue to wear tents for the next 6 months or so. I'll try the cardy over the tee shirt option too although all my old stuff is a little too tight around the bust now and you can make out the breastpads on the pale ones - yuk! When do you truely get your body back to call your own eh?

You're welcome Hughsie. They used to do a wonderful tee with a faux cardigan joined onto it. Just remember to buy at least one white one - definitely the most practical colour for spit-up!!

As for getting your body back - I'll let you know! Not going to tell you how old my youngest is - it would only depress us both on this windy Sunday morning!!

The Motherhood site is really good - I particularly like the pretty pajamas. I've been looking for some decent ones to buy for hospital but it's hopeless here.

Nerdgirl, if you hadn't recommended the site I would have been put off ordering from the US - was it OK and did the goods take a long time to come?

Also did they come up big or small in terms of sizing? I am 5ft 2in and a size 10-12 pre-pregnancy but will be a bit of a porker for a while after (esp. in the tummy region) so should I go for a medium or a large? Any advice gratefully received, Nerdgirl!

Anto, I can't praise the service or the quality of the clothes highly enough. I ordered sleepwear for hospital too and a few tops and a rather formal dress for the christening. Everything was delivered within two weeks and lasted so well that I could pass on my entire nursing wardrobe to a cousin who has since passed it on again!!

As for sizes, I was a UK 14 and 5' 6'' before pregnancy and I ordered the large size stuff which the site recommended for US 12 - 14 so UK 14 - 16 and I have to say it was roomy but most of it was very flatteringly cut so it didn't matter too much.

Bloody hell, I should be on commission for these guys!!

Does anyone know where I can get large breastfeeding tops? And by large, I really mean large - it makes me grind my teeth when shops describe size 14-16 as large: I was an 18 when I got pregnant and really struggled to find any clothes, let alone decent ones, (especially as my bum seemed to grow almost as much as my tum). Two months on the weight just isn't coming off and I'm still in maternity clothes as otherwise I'd be buying a size 22 wardrobe. So, rant over, anyone know where I can find some nice breastfeeding tents oops I mean tops?

Thanks Bobbin - that Swedish site is quite good although they look a bit strange design wise. i like the idea of a more fitted top but am aware of the outline of the breast pad showing unless the top is patterned or dark. I think I'm always nervous to order from catalogues or web sites as I much prefer to try things on - why are there no outlets in the UK for these things? We are all obviously happy to wear tents or stay indoors!
