Vomiting, self-weaning(?) and milk supply

DS is 11.5 months and has been gradually weaning himself more and more. But: he still had 3 decent meals a day (offered and rejects two more).
On the weekend we all had a vicious vomiting bug and while I tried to stay hydrated and continue to bf him, my supplied had a huge dip in a time when he especially needed it. He has been asking for water and herbal tea and has drunken a lot of those. Today he took my nipple in his mouth but refused to suck. I don't thinks this is a strike and he is clearly thirsty. Where do we go from here? Will my supply go up again? When does he need additional animal or artificial milk (he has lost a lot of weight in the last 3 days)? I have been back to normal now for 2 days, but my supply does not seem to have gone back.
