My DD is just over 5 months old and over the past week she has started pulling off the breast after a really short time feeding. She then won't go back on and fights the breast or any effort to get her back on. One the occasions when she does, it's for a couple of glugs and that's it. I've tried feeding her in different positions etc and have the same problem.

I'm wondering what this could be. It doesn't seem to be wind as she normally brings wind up regularly at each feed...however she has started sucking her bottom lip a lot and I;m wondering if she's teething and it's hurting her to feed.

Has anyone else had this? I was using nipple shields and have just weaned her off them and am wondering if perhaps, as they slow down the milk flow, she;s actually getting enough milk but in a much quicker time and I;m just not used to how quick she feeds....

Any ideas would be gratefully received as I am a it worried that of she doesn't feed as much as she was doing my supply could drop.

Is she ok nappy-wise? Have you had her weighed? Sounds like she's getting efficient.

Nappy-wise she is fine. Her weight gain has slowed down but she has grown in length a lot. I think this seems to be a breastfed baby trend.

Sounds fine to me! Try her with some Calpol or teething gel if you think she's in pain.
