13wo snacking and slow weight gain (long)

My 13wo DS doesn't seem to want to take a full feed (bf) when it is offered to him - only a couple of minutes a time. I was trying to keep to a 3 hour schedule but I can't tell any more when he is hungry. He doesn't obviously cry with hunger as he is generally very happy and smiley. He sucks his hands a lot but I try to offer him the breast when he does this and sometimes he takes a little but other times will take nothing. He cluster feeds in the evening but then will only feed from one side at night and we can't get him to take a bottle without lots of screaming (we are trying to give the 11pm dream feed of formula). He has also not gained much weight in the last 2 weeks and has dropped below the 50th centile that he was tracking perfectly up till now.

I am getting really stressed about this and combined with lack of sleep I'm not really sure what to do. If he doesn't get enough milk from me I'm not sure what this will do to my supply and if he won't take a bottle then I'm not sure what else to do.

Hi. TBH I would have a chat to your health visitor.

I am living overseas so don't have one - he's still the same today. I have expressed about 7oz but has only had 1oz from the bottle and hasn't fed properly since 6pm last night.

it is normal for a bf baby to slip down the percentile chart as they approach 4 months. weight gain also slows down as babies become more physically active. As long as he is putting on some weight and not losing weight there there isn't much need for concern.

as far as not feeding much during the day, you can try to feed him in a quiet darkened room during the day to see if that will make a difference.
