Pumping at work - how often?

My ds is 3 months old and I've been back at nursing school part time since he was 5 weeks old (this was a really hard decision, but it's working out for us). Until a couple of weeks ago I was just going to class one day a week, but now I have started clinicals which means I'm at various hospitals and clinics 2-3 days a week.
I am bfing and pumping while I'm away from him so he has bottles for the next time. However, while ds nurses every 2-3 hours, I sometimes don't pump for a 5-6 hour stretch, depending on what's going on. Is that okay? Am I messing up my supply? When I do that, I can pump 12+ oz in one go (he only takes 3-4oz each time he takes a bottle). We're also using bfing as a contraceptive, am I messing that up by not pumping more often? Anyone know anything about fore- and hind-milk and pumping?
Sorry for all the questions! I'm new to posting here, although I've been reading answers here for a while - often to questions I hadn't thought to ask yet, so thanks!

i have no answers but just want to say you are a champion pumper! i can only get about 4oz in one go, and my three-month old can take an 8.5oz bottle in one go!!

Hi there - sounds like you're doing really well but I wouldn't rely on it as a contraceptive if you are having prolonged breaks between feeds/expressing - you might end up with a little surprise you didn't bargain for!

thanks, it's a real blessing to be able to pump so easily...I went into it naively not knowing it could be a problem.
DS was a little surprise, so maybe another one wouldn't be bad...but thanks for the advice littlepiggies.

i would think as long as you are punping as much as baby is drinking the schedule is unimportant
But it is not a failsafe contraceptive!
