Cows milk allergy

Can anyone tell me more. My baby was diagnosed with this today, after vomiting severely after formula. Although the doctor did not seem to take this seriously or even refer us for tests.

I would like to know more, as what happens when I start to wean him, does that mean he can have no cheese, yogurt etc?

The doctor did not tell me much, despite my asking, it seemed he thought I was making a fuss over nothing, but this is serious to me, and I am very distressed. How do I even know how serious this is?

I am in the dark here, and just want to know as much as I can. How can a milk allergy be diagnosed without tests? Surely this is not responsible, as needlessly cutting out dairy from a growing childs diet cant be good.

Just so confused right now

You should ask to be referred to a paedatrician. My friend's baby has this but they have been seeing a paed. He is on specail formula (he is now 15 mths) and cannot eat any products with dairy in them.

Hello, my DS is 8 months old and was diagnosed with a cows milk allergy at 6 months when we weaned. If you look on the allergy board, there is lots of useful information.

You should ask to see a dietician, I was referred to one very quickly. DS has a special formula which he is fine with. He can't have any dairy products at all, so now milk, yogurt, cheese, butter. Most chilren grow out of it but we have been told not to try to reintroduce it for 6 - 8 months.

I have been really distressd too but it is manageable I think. Hope you find some info on here to help and I hope your DS is ok.
