help with stopping bf

Spoke to hv last week about best way to stop bf and she suggested best way was to go cold turkey. I took her advice and dd has been ff since Monday morning and although she is taking the bottle fine, I'm suffering with quite a lot of discomfort as breasts are very swollen.

Hv said that this should last about 3 days but has anyone else been through this? Never suffered any problems while bf so don't know if I've got mastisis. Feeling guilty as it is stopping bf but dd (15 weeks) seems to be adapting well.

This is appalling advice from your HV, truly shocking, and she badly needs some training.

Best thing is to phone one of the bf helplines, happywelshmum, and you can discuss the best way forward for you.

Cold turkey is never a safe option with established breastfeeding.

I hope you will complain!

Thanks for the advice, am feeling better today but will complain. I've not had the best experiences with hv since dd was born.
