Itchy and spotty boob

Hi,

I need some advice. I'm breastfeeding my dd who is almost 4 months old and at the end of last week I noticed some red spots on one of my breasts. I wasn't sure if it was thrush, and it isn't affecting milk production, but its become very itchy and it appears to be slowly spreading around my breast and a couple of places on the nipple.

Can anyone help? Looking for advice before going to the Doctor incase its embarrassing.

I have had, and still have, something similar. Not yet gone to GPs as all else fine and no pain.

Are you expressing? If so, could it be a latex allergy from the pump? This is my latest theory.

Well my breast is sore but I'm actually breastfeeding rather than expressing like I did with my first two, where I had nothing like this. Thanks for the reply.

Eczema or maybe a sweat rash? (sorry). Would defo check with GP though, I'm sure they could give you something to clear it quickly.

could be mild eczema. I have o go o gp thursday anyways so will ask the lovel lady gp I have.

New question can I apply itch relief cream to it?

I would say yes, but wash off carefully before feeding.

Acqueous calamine cream is really good - better than the lotion - but I'd imagine you can't put it on the nipple due to bf. Anything itchy I normally use that or Eurax but I'm not sure if you can use Eurax when bf (definitely not meant to use when pregnant). And I'd try and keep boobs out to dry as it may be that your skin is irritated from being damper than usual.

Not sure about the symptoms of thrush, sorry, but I'm sure your GP would spot it a mile off - good luck.

Thanks, I have a chemist over the road so will pop in in the morning.

I've had thrush before with ds so I am definatley aware of the symptoms. not nearly as owwee with this than I was with that. though it does seem to flare up every time dd2 feeds but that could be because it is uncovered and touched?

I'll repost on here when I find out what it is
