if the poo is still soft then he isnt constipated - it is normal for bf babies to go 7 days (or longer) without pooing and not be regarded as being constipated.

do you know why this is? I mean the days inbetween...... my dd certainly was more regular as a newborn and its got less frequent

breastmilk is so tailored to the baby that there is hardly any waste basically.

my ds tender bowels needed some time to adjust to each change, ie from frequent to less frequent to solids etc.

try tummy time (play on a soft mat on the floor or your bed), best massage in the world.

thank you for you help .. poo is soft .. i have no idea why it is every other day (at least he is going) although he is farting all the time .. i thought breastfed babies were meant to go at least a couple of times a day .. and i will extend his tummy time ..thanks again

went to health visitor today and she confirmed exactly what madmouse posted .. that breastmilk is so nutritious that there is hardly any wastage .. but the gut is still working even though there is nothing to get rid of .. hence the stomach spasms etc ... i can't believe how knackering this breastfeeding thing is!!!
