I can't flipping express
I've been trying for days and it ain't happening. I'm meant to be going out tonight but I have about 3oz of ebm to leave for ds2. It's not enough.
He'll need his bedtime feed and probably wake up once whilst we're out. I really don't want to use formula.

no advice but lots of sympathy
have you thought about maybe a bit of baby rice - he'll probably sleep through the night that way

[runs and hides]

LOL.
He is actually 27 weeks now, so has been eating. It makes no difference!!

27 weeks! i would have said 10 - which made my joke funny

VinegARGHHHTits · 16/10/2008 10:39

How are you doing it? machine or hand? i always found my milk was easier to express if i had a long hot shower before hand, also found hand expressing easier than the pump, the pump hurt to much

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 16/10/2008 10:42

Both VT.
I've been trying both. The pump isn't working at all and for some reason I can't really get any by hand, I got an 8oz bottle in about an hour by hand last week! Grrrr.

As it's only for one night and possibly only 1-2 feeds max - could you just give cows milk?

[maybe I should run and hide too]

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 16/10/2008 10:51

Fuck it, I'm gonna go the whole hog and give him nesquik

SharpMolarBear · 16/10/2008 10:54

you can get straws with chocolate coating on the inside - just in case you're interested.
He should be on three meals a day by now anyway so the roast pork and potatoes should fill him up

VinegARGHHHTits · 16/10/2008 11:02

Oh just buy him a big mac before you go out, that'll fill him up

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 16/10/2008 11:05

I've just managed three ounces!woohoo!

see - it was MNing

womblingalong · 16/10/2008 11:21

Have you been trying to express at the first feed of the morning, and while you are feeding DS on one side? Then swap over. What pump are you using? What about breast compressions? There was info on aitch's thread yesterday. Just keep persevering, it is hard, i know. Good Luck.

scorpio1 · 16/10/2008 11:27

go somewhere quiet, with A, and try then. i always do it at stpid oclock in the morning cos then it works.

at least he takes a bottle

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 16/10/2008 13:40

5 ounces.
So 8 in total.
How much will I need for one feed?

Mimi used to have about 7, a few weeks ago, but that was before weaning

scorpio1 · 16/10/2008 13:41
