VS, sorry but I had to give up! And ds3 was 2.8 by then and sleeping through, well established on solids ( though I didn't start on BLW!) I had proper periods but a bit of spotting midcycle, which was mixed with the normal "egg-white" mucus of ovulation. I gave up bf, the spotting stopped and by month 2, I was pg.

I was bfing around 4 times in 24 hours when I fell pregnant in our first month of trying. But my nursling was 2.5 and I had had my periods back for over a year.
Good Luck.

This is really so individual. My periods returned with ds1 at 6 months despite exclusive bf day and night (nights up to 5-6 times). I conceived 3 times while bf him, 2 mcs (NOTHING to do with the bf) and ds2. My periods returned last month with ds2 (1 year), while tandem feeding. Others might find bf has a real effect on fertility, but often it will be enough to cut down.

lou, tbh if you became pg so soon after stopping bf it's likely your fertility was getting bsck into gear anyway or you even conceived before stopping (your post is ambiguous as to whether you conceived or discovered the pg 11 days after stopping).

Tbh I think with younger babies the period of bf-induced infertility is not always a bad thing as it 'protects' the body from the strains of another pg too soon. This is not a criticism of those wanting to ttc (goodness knows I know all about broodiness ) but if you have time on your side age-wise and bf is important to you I would be tempted to wait a bit and see if a nice surprise happens. Easier physically and emotionally to cut down bf with an older child if indeed you don't conceive.

That sounds hopeful!

Ahem

I have my period back! Think its a combination of starting weaning (yes she is over 6 months) and her sleeping through again...yay!
