How much alcohol do you think is ok to drink when breastfeeding? I've had the odd glass of wine but find myself feeling more guilty than when I was pregnant - the advice seems very wishy washy.

Check archives for info on this, doingmyheadin. Lots of it

Baby gets far less alcohol by breastfeeding that when in uterus...

I asked my midwifw this with DS1, and she said an occasional glass wont hurt. The peak time for alcohol to be present in milk is 90mins after, so if you have a small glass straight after your baby's feed, you should be fine for the next feed.

Some alcohol does seep into the milk but it really is only a very small amount. this is from from the NHS website
and here is another view.

Thanks, feel a bit better about it although ds feeding v frequently in the evening so waiting two hours, let alone three after a drink before feeding him would be near impossible.
