9mths lunging at breasts when in our bed.......pls help

My 9 mth old slept ok until we went away and he got teeth. Since then he doesn't sleep more than 3 hrs at a time. He doesn't bf during the day but eats very well and shows no interest in the breast, which is fine as I'm back at work. I bf at bedtime (7pm), but then wakes up every 2.5/3hrs - it's not hunger more comfort, but it's killing me what with two other children and working. Whenever DH gives him a cuddle he settles okay, but when I pick him up/he sees me he lunges for the breast and screams until he gets fed - once for over an hour. Any tips what I can do to get to sleep through - he has a dummy and regular routine. Tempted to give up breast feeding so at least he won't lunge at me during the night! Any suggestions would be great.

I'll be interested to see what others have to say about this. No advice - DS is 14 months and much the same if I go to settle him at all. TBH so far I have found just feeding him to be the easiest thing (though by no means easy!). If it's any comfort (I doubt it will be) at that age DS didn't eat very well during the day (I work too) and so I felt he needed the BF at night.

He is much, much less wakeful and needy for BF at this stage than a few months back though.

Glad I'm not the only one, but it doesn't help with the lack of sleep - have posted on the sleep board too. Think I will just give up on bf as he's 26lb 5oz already so not little by any means.

Wow TanE! The reason I am still bf at night is that ds is only 19lb and has stopped gaining weight. So you should have no worries!

DD1 did this, we called it the Shark Attack. Was cosleeping at the time and would wake up with her head in my armpit and her little mouth gaping open and trying to clamp down on anything that came near while getting more and more frantic. No advice except try to have DH settle him? lots of sympathy though.

I'm no help. My 17mo does this in the night and I love it. All dark and cosy and just me and dd having a cuddle. I do let her in bed with me though so I can feed lying down and sleep. She's also in a bed so gets up and comes in herself. Great for lazy ol' me.
