I've had diarrhoea (sp?!) for 3 days now and have this idea that i can't take Imodium whilst bf, is this right?

Can anyone suggest a substitute if i'm right?

Or should i go with the theory of 'better out than in'? (sorry )

OK, don't qoute me on this, but I have a feeling its one of those things that says 'if breastfeeding seek advice of the doctor' ..... which I always take to mean they don't really know! I guess if it does pass into the milk, it will possibly have an impact on your DC's poos. I did take it when BF for one day only (his Christening, otherwise seriously wouldn't have been able to go! ) to no ill effect. However, if you have no major plans I would say better out than in.....

I phoned the NHS helpline with same question a couple of months back and they couldn't tell me. My doctor ended up checking in his big drug book thing and the Tesco own brand of immodium tablets was perfectly safe.

Loperamide is safe if you are breastfeeding. Details here
