one side only

I'm sure this topic's come up b4...

I'm still not getting a good latch on my left-side, but the right-side is ok... does anyone with any experience know...

can i feed my bub (11 weeks) from one side only? Will the supply on the right simply increase to match demand? Will this make the right breast larger than the left? Do I just express the other side?

I'd prefer not to have to constantly top-up with a bottle, but is that what I should do if I can't feed from both sides?

You can def feed from just 1 side. The supply will just increase.it can make you a bit lopsided but a couple of breastpads in the other side helps even things up a little ( i do know someone who does this!)
Bottle top up are def optional. Have you spoken to a proffesiona about it?

It's possible. SIL sucessfully fed two DDs using one side only - other side did not work due to surgery to remove a growth. HTH.

Mandy08 - really hope it's not permanent. I'm basically only really feeding off my right. Left it pretty useless and much smaller now than the right. Am hoping when I stop BF they'll even out although am sure the right will be droopier, since it's got soooo much bigger than the left. sigh

lop-sidedness is not even visible with your clothes on and is only there for the first weeks - thereafter, breasts are equal, more or less (though no woman is absolutely the same anyway, even when not pg or bf!!).

Yes, you can feed one sided if that suits you, once bf is well-established, and it will be now, with you

You can definitely feed from just one side. I did with ds from 7 months to 16 months - his idea - and my s-i-l has severe burn scars from an accident and has only one viable nipple and she nonetheless fed baby and went on feeding toddler from one breast (not at the same time, but my expressing).

And I did it too and I don't think my breasts are more uneven than anyone else's. Good luck, Mandy08.
