More dubious HV twaddle...

Overheard, one of the disadvantages of bf is feeding to sleep, advised on dummies.
Asked me about weaning, as DS is 19 weeks, I said I'd been looking into BLW so when he can sit up, she said not to leave it any later than six months wether he can sit up or not.
This is the really juicy bit of HVB(ullshit) - with our history, of being slow weight gain for first two months, we could start weaning at 20 weeks. Cos carrot will sure fatten up my little elf!
The opinions of one close to retirement who still believes what she was taught 40 years ago?
She's not that bad, but only because I take everything with a pinch of salt, not good for those who don't have MN. And my HV, the one who teaches baby massage and treasure basket has gone to another practice!
I've seen too much of them the last three weeks, but as he gained on his line after losing last week due to illness, I shan't get him weighed for a month! Promise!

Ugh my hv is a very nice lady who knows very little about babies and even less about bf. She has given me some good advice about my mental cat though...

It is very sad how ill informed some of these HVs are.

Bad mother alert, but I never had my boys weighed after their 6 week check. They will soon let you know if they are hungry.

Fucking hell. More idiocy unleashed on unsuspecting women.
What is wrong with them???

It's basic common sense!

I shan't be telling them what I'm doing regards weaning, I'm sure they think I'm barmy as it is. Last week at the weaning talk it was clear they were only telling us what they have to. That HV mentioned that in her day it was 12lbs or 12 weeks to wean. And all the actual weaning advice was geared to if you wean before six months.
I mentioned last week to the older HV about coffee and it upsetting DS, and she said something along the lines of 'well, theres only a few more weeks', I guess she thinks its bf up to six months. I told her I'm planning to continue bf, and she said I could always try the coffee again in a couple months, which is what I thought, but her original sentiment was pretty clear.

They are hopeless, aren't they. Mine told me to put double cream and butter in all my DD's food because she was "below average" (ie varied between 9th and 25th centile, where she had always been).
FFS.
